If you have finally made the decision to put window tint films on your car, you are excited about the way your car will look. However, you may not realize that there are certain things you need to do so that the car window tints remain intact and undamaged. Here are some things you can do to keep your window tints looking good.
Wait to Roll Down Windows
When you first get window tint films for your car, be aware that they need to have time to dry. Make sure that you don't open and close your car's windows for a few days to allow them to set properly. If you do not do this, you may find scratches and other signs of damage on your brand new tints.
Fix Bubbles with Credit Cards
Over time, you may notice that there are little air bubbles between your car window and the window tint film. You can fix these small bubbles with a plastic credit card by gently pressing the edge of the card against the bubble and moving it in a smoothing motion. The bubble should flatten and the film should adhere to the window once again. You can also use similarly-shaped cards, such as store reward cards and library cards.
To make sure you don't scratch the window tint film with the card, you may want to use a cloth or towel between the tint film and the card you're using.
Be Careful with Seat Belts
If you are like a lot of people, you aren't very careful with the seat belt as you take it off. This can be damaging for your window tint films because the metal part of the seat belt can accidentally hit the window as the belt recoils, causing dings and scratches on your tints.
To make sure this doesn't happen, remove your seat belt slowly and stay mindful of where the seat belt ends up when you take it off.
Don't Use Ammonia-based Cleaners
You may want to clean smudges and stains off of your windows, and you can use soft cloths, water and commercial window cleaners on your window tints. However, it is important that you avoid cleaners that contain ammonia. Ammonia-based cleaners can eat away at the tint film over time and make it more likely to peel.
